Voliro develops the next generation of aerial robots: an omnidirectional platform with the unique capability to approach, touch, and interact with the environment – shifting the abilities of service drones from « fly and see » to « fly, see and touch ». The tasks of infrastructure inspection, cleaning or spraying are dangerous, expensive and time consuming. Scaffoldings, cranes or climbing experts are required to gain access to these areas, and the use of these methods is estimated to increase the time of the intervention by 30%.

Voliro developed an omnidirectional drone to perform contact-based work at height and to conduct high precision spraying-work. The drone enables reliable physical interactions with the environment and can detect corrosion, erosion and structural defects not visible by camera. The inspection results are streamed live to a ground control station and are stored for post processing.

The technology is polyvalent and has application for a wide range of assets such as bridges, dams, building, plains… It provides benefits to all stakeholders; collection of data is increased, intervention time and cost are reduced, and work quality and safety are improved.
