Voliro acquires Sixpec’s IP to scale drone-based corrosion detection

Corrosion under insulation is one of the most expensive and difficult problems in heavy industry, typically requiring scaffolding, insulation removal and rope access.

Voliro is changing that.

The company has acquired the intellectual property of Sixpec, developers of Pulsed Eddy Current (PEC) technology a method that uses electromagnetic pulses to detect hidden flaws beneath surfaces like insulation or coatings.

Together, they launched the world’s first drone-based PEC system, enabling fast, non-invasive inspection of insulated assets. Already adopted by industry leaders including Suncor Energy, Georgia-Pacific and TEAM, the solution is gaining momentum as a new standard in non-destructive testing.

With this acquisition, Voliro ensures full control of the technology and accelerates its global deployment.
